Best Pokemon for the Story
| Pokemon | Type |
|---|---|
Cubone | Type 1: Type 2: |
With its power to draw Electric-type moves away from other Pokemon, Cubone is easily the best partner for Squirtle.
It also has access to a lot of Fire-type moves via TM, so Cubone can take care of pesky Grass-types as well.
| Move | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Brick Break | | It damages an enemy. It also shatters the enemy's Reflect, Light Screen, and Aurora Veil conditions. |
| Ice Beam | | It fires off a cold beam, damaging a Pokemon, even one far away. It could also make the enemy Frozen. |
| Rock Tomb | | It damages an enemy. It also lowers the enemy's Travel Speed. |
| Scald | | It damages an enemy. It could also leave the enemy with a Burn. It will thaw a Frozen Pokemon. |
- The goal of this moveset is to provide Squirtle with coverage and range.
- You can replace Ice Beam or any of the moves with Blizzard if you prefer a room-wide move that is good against Monster Houses.
- Squirtle learns Hydro Pump at Lv. 40. Consider replacing Scald once unlocked.

| Substitute | | You'll create a Substitute if you have more than half your max HP. Every time you use this move, your HP decreases. When you create a Substitute, you won't be targeted by enemies, but you can't use moves or items, and you can't restore your HP naturally. |
| Surf | | It damages all Pokemon in the same room except you. It can hit a Pokemon with the Dive status. |
